Racing Season again!
Well hello there people! Going to try and start this thing up again, maybe keep it weekly or something. Once again, I’m a racing blog, I love anything with four wheels and a crap load of wings on it, preferably making at least 4 turns!
So we find ourselves 3 weeks deep in a racing season that started waaayyyy back in January with the 24 Hours of Daytona, of which I wasn’t able to catch much. The season for most people started on the 24th of February with the Daytona 500. It’s been 3 weeks and a lot of left turns ladies and gentleman.
That’s not a bad thing either. NASCAR has it’s strengths as a racing series, one of the big ones being that it is a constant thing. There’s almost always a race on, and there’s always someone to root for. Myself, I’d say I have 3 drivers on a given sunday who I’m pulling for.
NASCAR has also got some amazing on track action, for all the bitching and moaning fans do about it. I won’t get into that argument right now, but suffice to say that I think the Gen-6 Car is a step in the right direction, and given sometime we’ll have a great machine on our hands
That being said, NASCAR also lacks some of the variety I like in my racing. I do love Oval racing, but I was raised on road and street racing. The fact that there are 2 fantastic road courses in the schedule make me happy, I just wish that the number of 1.5 mile tracks was a bit lower. Some of these tracks are fantastic raceways, but some of them *Cough* Las Vegas *cough* are pretty terrible.
Now, Formula 1 Starts next week, and i’m beyond excited for this season. Coming so close last season as a Ferrari fan means I want blood this season. Alonso was by far and away the best and most consistent driver this season, and a few uncontrollable accidents and the late season Red Bull charge robbed him of the title. This season the new car looks beastly, and the whole team seems to be ready to bring the Prancing Horse from Maranello to the WDC. We can only pray!
Again, F1 is all fine and dandy, but jesus some of the races are boring. Any race track that is older than about 20 years old is generally exciting, but the newer ones just do nothing for good T.V. They’re flat, they all look the same, and they are completely forgettable. The exceptions, CoTA, the Abu Dhabi circuit aren’t as bad, and produce some pretty spectacular racing. That being said, watching an F1 race is sometimes a chore. Weird airing time stateside and Speed’s coverage have put me to sleep at least once.
BEN! you cry. Are you not entertained? Can nothing satiate your desire for on track action. And I don’t say anything, because no one actually asked that. Anywho
IndyCar. IndyCar baby. What a beast of an issue that is. sometimes I think it’s a wonder it exists today at all, what with the last 2 decades. Between poor management, the economy, and a seeming desire to drive fans away in droves, the series has weathered a lot, and still stands.
So what kind of product do we have here? In my opinion, a fan-fucking-tastic one. IndyCar has everything I love in racing in one convenient, easy to watch package. Street courses. Road courses. Oval tracks. They run them all, and boy do they hit them hard. my first live race was the St. Petersburg Race, and I’m almost sure that the first thing out of my mouth was “Wow, Passing for the lead! imagine that!” (looking at you, F1). The new car, while divisive looks wise, has produced amazing racing on every venue they’ve gone to. The Road courses might be a bit dry, but thats the beauty of it! There are only 3 of them, and they’re fairly evenly spread out! Everything else on the schedule is killer. There’s no need for a Darrell Waltrip trying to fill up airtime with Danica chatter or stupid Sarah Palin puns. There’s an honest to god product to watch and be entertained by. the commentators do there job of keeping you informed, and that’s that. I’m going to at least 2 races this summer, and i hope to add at least one more.
Well with that said, I look forward to this week being ultra-racy. Bristol and Australia, both great races as far as I’m concerned! Boogity Boogity, let’s see some racing boys and Danica! (Just kidding.) St. Pete in 2 weeks!

I feel like my family is the one part of my life I can’t do anything to make better… there are times I feel like I hardly know the people who are my blood relatives… not quite sure what I can do about it either but seeing Silver Lining Playbook didn’t help at all today. screw that movie

This is literally the only outlet I have for this
but watching the coverage of the shooting in Connecticut, how the FUCK can you legally purchase an assault rifle? Why do you need a gun that’s capable of killing a person instantly via hydrostatic shock, a gun that will put a person down, dead on the ground from distance? You can have your handguns, you can have your hunting rifles, but for god in heavens sake, you do not need an assault rifle. This country needs to get its head out of its ass. My sister was at Virginia Tech, and the 2 hours where we didn’t know if she was alive or not was some of the most frightening moments of my life. It’s obscene, and it’s a travesty. Children died. Children who had lives ahead of them, loves ahead of them. The songs they could have written, the paintings they could have made, the love they could have shared is now gone. All because people want to be able to fire a gun at a range every couple weeks and own a gun just to have one. I don’t know where the solution lies, I don’t know where to even begin thinking about, but Jesus Christ what we have now doesn’t work. Amen, god bless, and hug your family a little bit closer tonight.

This girl is insane, I think
> It gets stranger and stranger as it goes.
> Her neighbors must hate her.
This was better than some superbowl commercials
